Candace Cameron Bure Shares How Dave Coulier is Handling Cancer Fight

Candace Cameron Bure is showing her support for fellow “Full House” co-star Dave Coulier as he battles stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
“I think a life lesson is just to laugh a lot. We’re seeing that even with Dave Coulier right now—with his cancer diagnosis. He’s laughing his way through it,“ she said. “And we’re all there laughing along with him in support.”
The actress commended Coulier for his resilience and his ability to hold on to his sense of humor despite uncertainty—something she learned to appreciate growing up while working alongside Coulier and the late Bob Saget, another castmate.
“Everyone handles it differently. And Dave is a person where laughter is the best medicine. So we’re doing that along with him, and I’m glad,” she said.
Best known for her portrayal of “D.J. Tanner,” Bure starred in the hit sitcom with Coulier and Saget, which ran for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995. Decades later, the cast continues to keep in contact.
“We are a family, it just comes natural [to support each other]. It does. So we’ve got the text chain, we call and we get together when we’re in town and when there’s some special event for someone,” she said.
The show’s 2016 spinoff “Fuller House” was revived by Netflix and reunited many of the original cast members, including Bure and Coulier.
Bure, Coulier, the rest of the cast, and fans mourned Saget’s death together, reaffirming their support for one another.
He is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments for B-cell lymphoma after he experienced swelling in his lymph nodes due to an upper respiratory infection.
Lymphoma is a cancer with two main types—Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin—and forms in the body’s lymphatic system.
“I went from, I got a little bit of a head cold to I have cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming. This has been a really fast roller-coaster ride of a journey,” he added.
He found comfort in how “immediate” the outpouring of support was, adding their reactions displayed just how strong their bond truly is.
“It really is overwhelming the love that we have for each other. We’ve been there for so many years for each other, and it’s pretty remarkable,” he said.
Former cast member John Stamos has been visiting Coulier while he undergoes his chemo treatments and took to Instagram recently to show his solidarity.
Users were quick to take aim at the gesture, questioning Stamos for not showing further solidarity by shaving his head.
