Funding is not the central part of our infrastructure crises

Opinion: Perhaps bravely, perhaps foolishly, I accepted an invitation to speak on “The Future of Health Infrastructure” in Otepoti/Dunedin this weekend. The fact of this column being published today confirms I escaped to tell the tale despite the intense controversy about their hospital building.
I accepted, but not because I think I have or should have any great say in the matter of their hospital build. When I was at Te Whatu Ora I already thought, to use a technical term, that the project was a balls up. Just about every possible planning mistake had been made over too many years. Just as it had in every other hospital building proposal I encountered.
